Welcome to the Kolton Lab
Located within the French Associates Institute for Agriculture and Biotechnology of Drylands at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Kolton Lab, specializes in researching the complex interactions between soil microbiomes and ecosystem functionality.
The research approach combines field studies, laboratory experiments, and computational analyses to explore how soil microorganisms influence and are affected by their environment, particularly in arid landscapes.
The lab’s core mission is to unravel the complexities of soil microbiomes, focusing on:
- Microbial Ecology: Examining the role of soil microbes in enhancing agricultural productivity and health.
- Environmental Response: Investigating the ways in which these microbial communities adapt to and counteract environmental changes and stresses.
- Advanced Methodologies: Utilizing cutting-edge techniques in environmental metagenomics, proteomics, and DNA-SIP analyses for deeper insights into soil-plant dynamics.
The Kolton Lab advances the field of microbial ecology and invites collaboration with researchers and students passionate about environmental science and agrobiology.
We invite you to join our mission in exploring and understanding the secrets of soil ecosystems, contributing to sustainable agricultural practices and environmental preservation.
